Is it worth buying, especially solo?
On 18 October 2026 the Steam review API showed 450 reviews for Japanese Ramen Simulator, 413 positive and 37 negative, which is 91.78% and the store’s “Very Positive” band. Review counts move daily, so this is a dated snapshot.
The numbers, and why they disagree
- Review API, all languages: 450 reviews, 91.78% positive (18 October 2026).
- English filter on that API: 152 reviews, 145 positive (17 October snapshot).
- Store page blurb: 92% of 420 (older store copy).
- IsThereAnyDeal, same week: 91% from 389 (third-party snapshot).
- Denfaminicogamer on 16 October: 91% of 372, plus the studio’s 100,000-sales note.
Metacritic on the store API was null. I did not get past the Japan Times paywall or bot check, so I am not summarizing that review. Online players that week were reported by IsThereAnyDeal around 7,312, with a recent peak near 9,696. Those counters move by the hour.
What solo players are actually complaining about
A highly rated negative review said the NPCs cover the register, dishes, and carrying food, and that nobody cooks or waits the full floor, so a late solo shift falls behind. v0.1.57 answers part of that: World Settings can cut dish and drink orders, change traffic, and a serving counter unlocks at level 9. Another complaint, furniture that left items behind when you moved it in build mode, is marked fixed in that same patch. Shopping-cart handling was still drawing complaints when I read the English reviews.
The positive reviews I sampled like playing with friends, the physics of the bowl, and the silly failures: a bad broth, a shuriken at a thief, a lucky casino hand. I have not played a timed solo clear, and HowLongToBeat had no listing when the research pass looked, so I will not invent an hour count.
